The third game in the Fallout series, Fallout 3 is a singleplayer action role-playing game (RPG) set in a post-apocalyptic Washington DC. The Story: Vault 101 - Jewel of the Wastes
For 200 years, Vault 101 , a fallout shelter, has faithfully served the surviving residents of Washington DC and its environs, now known as the Capital Wasteland. Though the global atomic war of 2077 left the US all but destroyed, the residents of Vault 101 enjoy a life free from the constant stress of the outside world. Giant Insects, Raiders, Slavers, and yes, even Super Mutants are all no match for superior Vault-Tec engineering. Yet one fateful morning, you awake to find that your father has defied the Overseer and left the comfort and security afforded by Vault 101 for reasons unknown. The game is primarily set in the Pacific theatre and has a much more realistic, violent tone requiring less-linear game play than previous Call of Duty installments. You'll struggle to survive Japanese attacks without mastering new gaming skills, like swimming or how to use a flamethrower--a weapon that packs some punch in the fully destructable game world.

Also featured is a campaign on the Eastern front, where you take control of a soldier in the Soviet Red Army during the attack on Berlin in the closing stages of the war. The game also includes the series’ first co-op mode, while the competitive multiplayer mode aims to build upon the achievements of Call of Duty 4 and add to the game’s longevity.

In a nutshell:
After the glories of Rome the Total War series is returning to the most turbulent era in Western history as you take control of the country of your choice in the golden age of chivalry and really big battles.
The lowdown:
Some games think they're doing well if they have more than a dozen enemies on screen at one time. Medieval II: Total War has 10,000 at once. This is a remake of the best selling Medieval game using an enhanced version of the Rome: Total War graphics engine, which allows for twice the level of detail where every face is different and armour, shields and clothing vary from man to man. All the new features and advancements of Rome are also added into the game, including the 3D strategy map. On top of this it adds a vastly greater variety of new factions and units as well as the American continent to explore and exploit.
Most exciting moment:
The new graphics and gameplay features all come together for the new night time sieges, with tens of thousands of soldiers on screen at once as the boiling oil and the flaming arrows create a sight to make Hollywood weep.

The game is, as much as possible, historically accurate, with in-game information available to explain about the Crusades, Renaissance and the discovery of the Americas.

The lowdown:
After years of trying to create less complex, mini-game orientated spin-offs it seems EA are now keen to see the PC and console The Sims games converge. This new iteration is an expansion pack on the PC but a full price, stand alone game on the consoles. As the name subtly hints the main addition to the game this time round is a number of four-legged friends, plus fish and birds (although it's really cats and dogs that get most of the attention). You can also create your own personalised pet via a complex customisation tool that's just as versatile as the one for humans and on the PC version you can even send your four-legged friend to work!
Most exciting moment:
On the PC this is a perfectly welcome but very narrow expansion. However the full price console version is actually a considerable improvement on the original with an easier-to-use interface, better artificial intelligence and even reduced loading times.
Since you ask:
The next PC expansion pack is called In Season and seems to be roughly analogous to The Sims expansion On Holiday, in that it'll focus on exterior objects and locations. It's not yet clear whether there'll be a console version.

Retaining the same aims and objectives that have underpinned the series to date, Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 nonetheless is a solid evolution for the franchise. And it doesn't hurt that it happens to be one of the most friendly, open and accessible management games on the PC platform.
The aim remains to build up a winning theme park, with a special emphasis on building and designing its premium rides. And this is where the game's most obvious improvement kicks in. Whilst its predecessors were undoubtedly engrossing and enjoyable strategy games in their own right, neither was graphically anything special. Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 however features significantly improved visuals, that make a surprising difference to the game itself. That's because you're now able to get virtual first-hand experience of your creations, and can zoom in on any part of your park, and the overall effect is one of added depth.
Elsewhere, the challenges have been tweaked and refined, and are just as much fun as they always were. Whilst you can play at different levels, the long-term test lies with the career mode, where you must beat the numerous scenarios the game has to offer. Suffice to say, to succeed at that you need to be fully versed in resource management, park design and, crucially, keeping your customers happy. It's not easy, but it is tremendously immersive, and given the game's steady and cultured learning curve, you never feel out of your depth.
Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 is ultimately a steady evolution of a formula that works exceptionally well, and it does so here again. Sure, the mechanics have evolved at a slower rate than the visuals, but that doesn't stop the game being that rarest of things--a strategy game that the whole family can enjoy.--Simon Brew
