If you're a fan of 2-D fist-to-the-face beat-'em-up games, then you'll know the Street Fighter series has dominated arcades for years. While Super Street Fighter 2 X Revival's gameplay is modified for the GBA's controls, with a little patience it's possible to pull off a few of the more devastating and complicated combos. The GBA does a shockingly great job of reproducing the visuals and action of the arcade originals. And as no Street Fighter game would be complete without a multiplayer fisticuffs mode, pummelling your friends via the link cable (two carts are needed) should be a snap. --Mark Brooks -

Street Fighter Alpha 3 is another high-class port of a classic franchise, and as soon as you see the graphics and animation in this game, you'll wonder why other developers can't do more with their GBA games. SFA3 has plenty of special moves, combos, blocks and counters, as well as 33 characters, 12 fighting modes, three new fighters, three fighting styles for each player and a head-to-head game mode via the Game Boy Advance link cable (two copies of the game are required). -

Based on the cartoon of the same name, Jackie Chan Adventures sees the titular archaeologist embarking on a race against time to recover the eight Magical Scrolls of Kung Fu before they fall into the evil clutches of the Dark Hand. The game perfectly matches the cartoon's look and feel; the graphics are sharp and the music is catchy. Uncle, Jade, and Captain Black are present, as well the various henchmen of the Dark Hand, including Hak Foo, Valmont, and the demon Shendu.Jackie Chan Adventures is a side-scrolling fighting game, similar in some ways to Final Fight. Players have a huge array of kung fu moves, and he learns extra moves with each magic scroll you collect. Fighting is a really fun--you can pick up items with your feet or hands, throw objects or enemies, and punch or kick just about anything on the screen. If you're a little rusty with your kung fu, there's a great training option that schools you on all the moves before you actually play. And with three difficulty levels, this game can be geared to just about any player. If you're looking for a fun--and funny--game with huge levels and great kung fu action, look no further. Jackie Chan Adventures will definitely deliver. --Bryan Karsh

Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2 is the first GBA fighting game and that's a lot of weight to carry on its muscular and well-rounded shoulders. But Midway's baby has been a hit on several systems already, merging boxing with hilarity and featuring wild characters like Afro Thunder, Mama Tua and more--all outfitted with power moves and special taunts. The GBA version looks good; it features loads of colour and everything from the taunts to Michael Buffer's famous tagline "Let's get ready to rumble" is intact. Unfortunately, the gameplay isn't. Ready to Rumble 2 for the GBA is a 2-D fighting game, not a 3-D one like before. You can move forward and backward, block and punch. Move while punching and you get an uppercut or a short jab. There's almost no sense of damage as you hit these poorly animated foes and this takes all the personality out of the game.
There are 11 characters in total: some favourites from the original games and two new unlockable ones--Michael Buffer as "Rumble Man" (yawn) and... Michael Jackson. There are four modes of play: arcade-style, championship, training and survival (where you've got to fight each opponent until you go down flat). You can create your own boxer if you like and participate in a few mini-training-games like rumble pads, weightlifting and the speed bag.
What Ready to Rumble 2 amounts to is a perfectly good and great looking Game Boy Color game but it doesn't do boxing justice. It isn't nearly as good as Ready to Rumble on other platforms and it just doesn't fit in with the other, mostly fantastic, GBA launch titles. --Andrew S Bub
